Anne Jones grew up in north central Indiana. She began doing portraits at age 12, and has not stopped!
At the advice of her teachers, Anne attended numerous workshops and figure drawing classes at Notre Dame and Indiana University in South Bend while still attending high school.
Her husband Christopher is also an artist, and they actually met in a high school art class. Both were accepted to John Herron School of Art in Indianapolis. They married in 1978 and had a family of five children.
As a gift from her mother-in-law and a respite from motherhood, Anne began studying under Austrian portrait artist Alice Schlessinger. Alice introduced her to pastels and the love affair with portraiture really began!
Eventually, Alice retired, and Anne took over the instruction of those classes at the South Bend Regional Museum of Art. Since then, the Jones family has lived in the Louisville, Kentucky area and they currently reside in Crown Point, Indiana.
Anne began doing local art shows in the Chicagoland area in 2000, and has grown her "hobby" into a full-time occupation. Now she stays busy at festivals and shows, but also does a healthy amount of work via the Internet.
Quality and satisfaction are of utmost importance to Anne - she works with her clients to make sure they are satisfied. A photo of the portrait can be emailed for approval, and changes are made upon request.
"Eventually, I hope to be able to do all of my work from home, and I can see it coming to pass sooner than later! Portraiture is my passion. I love to look at a subject and translate that into a tangible work of art. I feel honored to present a lasting memory to customers and know that they will always be happy they made the decision to have a portrait done. It is wonderful to be able to do something I love for a living. Not very many people can say that, but I can, and I am truly thankful!"
